Direct Transport based walk with Anthony Helm.
As Halloween approaches, we visit the home of the Pendle Witches that lived here over 400 years ago. A circular walk, starting from the village of Barley, we climb up Pendle Hill, for some fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. We then drop down to the Ogden reservoirs and on through Fell Wood (a spooky forest) to the hamlet of Newchurch in Pendle, which has its very own spooky shop...and some toilets. From here we head to Aitken Wood, which hosts the Pendle Sculpture Trail, with plaques and carvings that tell the tale of the Pendle Witches. We then pass the Black Moss reservoirs on the way back to Barley and the safety of the pub!
