Huddersfield to Marsden

Public Transport based walk with Phil Walters.

Note: the new walk leader will join the walk at Huddersfield. Jon is unable to lead the walk tomorrow and Phil has kindly stepped in.

A good linear walk venturing to parts not regularly visited by the group. This was reccied mid-February and was muddy so please bring appropriate kit. There will be two small stream crossings on the walk.

Note:  Based on the reccie we will be aiming to get the 16:50 train back, however if you are making plans for after the walk, please factor in that we maybe on the 17:50 train. The return train arrives into Manchester Victoria.

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.

10:30: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 10:42. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Huddersfield Off Peak Day Return £11.60.

10:42: Train departs for the walk start at Huddersfield Train Station.

11:11: Walk starts at Huddersfield Train Station.

Return from Marsden Station. 16:50, 17:50, 18:50, 19:50

Waypoints: Huddersfield train station, Reap Hirst, A629, Peat Ponds Farm, A643, Kirklees Way, Outlane, Round Ings Road, Kirklees Way, Crimea Lane, Intake Road, Merry Dale, Cop Hill, Bents, Mount Pleasant, Marsde


Please note, this walk leaves Manchester from Piccadilly and arrives back in to Victoria, or you need to change at Stalybridge.

The walk leader will not be at the Piccadilly in the morning - please make your way to Huddersfield and everyone will meet up there, in or immediately outside the station.
