Wednesday 21st February 2018: MAD Monthly Curry Night - Episode 3!
So, in keeping with Alex's monthly curry night proposal, I have seen fit to throw my suggestion into the hat. I am organizing a tasty dinner at My Lahore in Manchester's Curry Mile. This is a place I eat at regularly and have never had a bad meal or bad service. The food is yummy and reasonably priced. It has a great atmosphere and is always buzzing...perfect for the MAD crew!
There are also lots of dessert places on the strip if anyone fancies cake or ice cream or a brew afterwards!
I have emailed the restaurant and they have told me that they don't take any bokings after 6pm. We just come down and they will seat us according to numbers. The man who got back to me said that it isn't so busy on a Wednesday. So no need to pre-order anything or pay a deposit. Just come along if you fancy it!
14-18 Wilmslow Road
Manchester M14 5TQ
(It is towards the 'beginning' of the Curry Mile as you are coming out of the city centre.
Meet at 6.30 at the restaurant. They have an area where we can sit down while we wait for the table.
Any questions, just e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Saturday 3rd March 2018: Rammy/Bury Rail Strike Ale Trail
Steve Jones & Lee Hesselden
As Social Hosts never strike, Steve and Lee have an alternative for you, a pub crawl around Rammy (Ramsbottom) and Bury via trams and buses.
The social will start at Irwell Brewery in Ramsbottom.
Just turn up.
If you are on the walk, the ticket you buy in the morning will cover you for the socials.
Otherwise if you plan to miss the walk and join the pub crawl in Rammy, you will need a tram and bus ticket £7 (can be used over the entire tram network). There are regular buses from Bury Interchange up to Rammy.
Or if joining later in Bury, a tram return ticket to Bury will be needed, £4.60 from Victoria.
The social will immediately follow the walk.
If you can't make the walk but want to join the social later, Steve and Lee will add updates as to our location on the MAD Walkers Members Facebook Group.
Or e-mail email@example.com in advance and the Social Secretary will put you in contact with Steve and Lee.
Saturday 10th March 2018: Northern Quarter Social
Pretty simple social, just to go round a few bars in the Northern Quarter.
No booking, just turn up.
Meet at Whiskey Jar, 14 Tariff St, Manchester M1 2FF, any time from 7pm.
As there is no real plan for where we will head after, if you intend to come later just send me an e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I'll pass you my number.
Saturday 10th March 2018: A Pre Social Social - A Manchester Rice and Three.
In what I believe is the fourth instalment of the monthly curry nights, I invite you all to come for a quick ish and informal bite to eat at This and That ahead of Alex’s drinks in the NQ social later that eve.
Located on a somewhat scruffy back alley in the Northern Quarter, this cafeteria style Indian restaurant may seem unappealing to those who haven’t been before. But have faith, they’ve been around for over 30 years, and remain easily the most popular of the numerous Rice and Three cafes in the NQ / Ancoats area.
Rice and three curries wont set you back more than 6 pounds. Add a soft drink (they don’t sell alcohol) and a chapatti or two and you’ll still struggle to spend a tenner. Note that the restaurant is CASH ONLY
Meet in The Bay Horse pub on Thomas Street at 6 PM for a quick pint, with a view to get to This and That for 6.30
Then onto Alex’s social for drinks in the NQ.
no booking needed, note restaurant is cash only.
Meet in The Bay Horse pub on Thomas Street at 6 PM for a quick pint, with a view to get to This and That, Soap Street for 6.30
